This blog is based on 2 realizations:
1. When I love & take care of myself everything in my life seems to flow.
2. When I neglect myself and put myself last, things seem sad and hard.
So I'm going to play a Self-Love game with myself this year and I hope you'll join me! Click here for how you can get started.

OK… with Joe on my mind… here is what’s right about him….
He is very gentle and kind. He is a genuinely nice person.
He is extremely loyal.
He is humble.
He is handy… he can fix anything.
He would rather be happy than right…and that’s a wonderful quality to be around.
He is helpful and generous with his time.
He is an amazing cook.
He has a lot of interests.
He is willing to work hard at things he is not good at, even if it means looking foolish for a while and asking for help.
He tries hard to accept parts of himself that he wishes were different (dyslexia and asthma)
He is good with his money.
He does not partake in “vices” (drinking, drugs, smoking, gambling, porn etc)
Yup… he’s pretty swell. And I still don’t think we have a long term romantic future…. but I would like to think we could be friends. Time will tell.
I have tons of things that are right.
1. My children are healthy.
2. My home is paid for.
3. My bee hive is put together.
4. My extended family is helpful and loving.
5. I have a loving husband of 15 years.
6. I enjoy my job.
7. It’s almost time to put out the garden.
8. We were able to find my favorite seeds for the garden.
9. We didn’t have any damage from the storm today.
10. I have some great friends at work.
11. My childen were able to fill up the reward chart for going in the car 10 times without fighting. They each rented a redbox movie as a reward.
12. My kids aren’t fighting because they are busy with the redbox movies.
Christi- It is hard to make life choices. I felt the same way you are feeling with my relationship with my husband before we were married. Relax and you will discover the best path for you. I fought the whole process and feel that if I would have just enjoyed the place I was at it would have been much easier on me.
I have lots of things that are right:
My husband loves me unconditionally
My kids are OK and excited about their lives.
I have friends who are people I can count on and who are interesting
The spring is coming; my seeds are up
One of my best friends has just died: she is not in pain anymore, and she was ready for anything; still it is hard to accept. How will we go on w/out her?
Oooh, I love that card. I am a master at looking what’s NOT working, so this is a great chance.
What’s right in my life?
- I found Mr. Right and it’s better than ever even after 3 years. :)
- My relationship with my stepson Will has greatly improved.
- Both lawsuits/custody case are over.
- I have a lot of time for myself.
- I am changing nutrition to an even healthier one.
- I have a guy friend here now. And I am well on my way to meeting more like-minded people here.
- Found a great money managing tool, for free. :)
- Still have the weight off I lost 2 years ago.
- Will go home in 2 months.
- Have awesome parents.
- Love the quality time w/ my Mother-in-law.
- My tooth is not hurting.
- I feel healthy today.
- Have the cutest parakeet EVER. :)
- Bought flowers yesterday and am enjoying looking at them today.
- Started a walking & hiking club w/ my guy friend and it’s booming!
- Have a working Byron Katie group now.
- Met another Byron Katie facilitator at a workshop this weekend. Wow!!!
- Rob & I have a date once a week.
- Will is complaining less about food. I’ve found more peace around his eating habits.
- Spring is coming. I’m in a great mood.
- We live in an awesome apartment. And soon we’ll move to a place where I’ll have my own room (yeeehaaaa!!!)
- Rob got an iphone which he lets me use and I am finding the most amazing application. Oh, I LOVE technology!!!!
- I am still enjoying my stylish laptop, every day!!!
- I have a beautiful vase and am glad I bought it back then.
Oh my God!!! I could write forever! Wow! Love this exercise!!! Will look soon at a person and what’s right there. I’m going to pick the most challenging person in my life: Will, my stepson. :)
Ok, I’m gonna give myself an extra challenge: I will find what’s right with Will even though (or maybe especially?) I’m in a somewhat bad place with him. I’ll reward myself with an extra 50 points if I can do it.
What’s right with Will?
- He’s funny.
- He loves to cuddle and is very affectionate.
- He is the most honest child I know
- He’s got an amazing memory (which is often helpful for Rob and me to remember people’s names for example)
- No stress about bedtime. He’ll tell us when it’s time for him to go to bed.
- He respects my request to not wake me up before 7
- He doesn’t watch tv in the living room anymore (where it drives me crazy). He’s come to understand and respect that.
- He can entertain himself in the bathtub with his action figures and it’s so cute to listen in sometimes.
- He is very responsible with his homework.
- He always wants to be on time for school. No nagging etc. necessary.
- He’s almost never sick. And if, it’s only a soar throat for a day or two.
- He gets over things so quickly, it’s amazing. Actually, that should be one of the top three things that’s right with him. I can really learn from him in this regard.
- He loves babies.
- He likes me to read to him (which I love doing)
- He’s starting to be able to lose in Skip-Bo without a major fit
- He’s ok staying with a babysitter once a week (so Rob and I can go on a date).
- He’s really well-behaved in school. No complaints from teachers.
- He does well in school.
- He has less screen time now.
- He walks to school every morning and actually likes it.
- He’s come around with Aiden (our parakeet). He’s nicer to him now. Quite cute actually sometimes.
- He drinks the good milk (instead of ultra-pasteurized and homogenized that I don’t feel good about giving him) and eats the raw milk cheese.
- He does eat some veggies once in a while.
- He does drink water when we are out of orange juice.
Mmmh, that’s actually quite fun to “look for” the good stuff instead of just seeing the bad stuff and not being able to see past it.
Ok, that’s 50 + 50 and 50 yesterday for a total of 150 so far this week. :)
I find this card easy to use, on a moment to moment basis, throughout the day…when I’m feeling negative or angry, I can change the focus and find what’s right, and I DO feel better! It grows on me so that sometimes I automatically change the focus w/out thinking about it. Much nicer way to spend thoughts!
