SUZANNE - What have you found you could do this week that would help you become the HERO of your story around record keeping?

NANCY - My comment is also a story. It's all a matter of how we relate to our stories. Within the story we're telling ourselves are we the victim? Are we the villain? Are we a damsel in distress?

Then this card is about looking for how we can empower ourselves in the situation so we're not feeling yucky or angry or whatever anymore.

PATRICIA: I agree that the benefits of the cards are so great. So we can just look at why we're not keeping score...and if we find that there's something related to a stressful story, then we can explore that. Just to be aware of what we're doing and how we're playing this game and how we're playing in our lives.

And I quit keeping score after a couple of weeks of dismal results, where I just wasn't having much success with carrying out what I thought was the intent of the cards. Sounds a little like sulking to me.

And darn it, I do want that reward I've promised myself (a bound glossy, full-color book of my photos and words from Shutterfly online).

Because I'm trying to understand the What's Your Story? card for week #7, I was interested in Suzanne's comment here, that her story is she doesn't keep records right.

Why is that a story? What's the difference between Suzanne telling herself a story, and Mona's carefully worded comment that recordkeeping hasn't been one of her strengths and is something she'd like to be good at?

One difference I see is that Suzanne's has some self-judgment involved (from the word "right"), while Mona's avoids that component.

I feel like I'm picking nits here, except that I'm trying to understand the whole story concept.

Again, your feedback and insights would be much appreciated.

Mona, I'm glad to hear about this. I have not been keeping points since the first week! And yes, it probably is worth giving me the credit, it just seems almost unnecessary when the benefits of each card's idea are so great...

Oh - what an interesting way to see it Suzanne. RECORD KEEPING!

That has not been one of my strengths and I would like to be better at it.

Keeping track of these simple little points can be a great way to show myself that I CAN do it...and that I'm GOOD at it.

Then it can pave the way for me to be a better record keeper of other more "serious" and "important" things.

Hmm! Very interesting. Thank you. That record keeping perspective was really helpful for me.

Good to hear that I'm not alone in my point keeping!
My story is that I just don't do things right...especially record keeping...so this week I'll be noticing my story and questioning it....
And choosing something different!
