This blog is based on 2 realizations:
1. When I love & take care of myself everything in my life seems to flow.
2. When I neglect myself and put myself last, things seem sad and hard.
So I'm going to play a Self-Love game with myself this year and I hope you'll join me! Click here for how you can get started.

Already did some nice stretching for my body this afternoon. Just let my arms and head hang down as I bent over toward my toes. Felt really good on my hamstrings. Did it for about 20 seconds probably.
Also, I didn’t feel like wearing a bra today, so I haven’t. And it feels much better all over my body – nothing restricting at all. Ahhh.
100 points so far toward loving my body…few more waking hours left too.
Went for a walk this morning to the store. 50
Ate healthy raw food for lunch. 50
Took a bath then a shower. 50
Wow… this has been a hard one this week for me because my schedule has me running from literally 5:00 am until 10:00 at night.
But, because this is THE card for the week it’s helping me keep my body in mind. So, I’ve managed to—>
1) I took a bath before bed on both Monday and Tuesday night – even though this got me to bed later it felt wonderful for my shoulders, neck and back. So 100 points for the baths.
2) I did my yoga routine on Tuesday and that felt wonderful… ahhhh so 50 points there.
3) I got really hungry at the store on Monday and Tuesday and instead of ignoring my body and pushing myself to the breaking point I paused for a minute and requested food be made and brought to me. It felt good to feed my body. So 100 points there.
Looking over these things this all feels very rudimentary, but somehow this week even these most basic of tasks have helped me keep myself moving. So Good card for me this week!
I think this puts me at 800 points toward that massage. I do have to admit that I STILL have not gotten over to buy those running shoes which was my reward after the first 1000 points. Sigh…
Oh Man, his one is hard! I thought this would be a great one to get me motivated to do my back exercises. Now I would even get points as a reward. But no. Still I am not doing them. I’m puzzled. Why not??
Ok, this was just getting ridiculous. So I just got up and did ‘em! 50 points. It wasn’t too hard.
The other day I was thinking about going to Starbucks to have a Hot Chocolate. Then I stopped and asked myself if I really wanted to put all that sugar in my body. And I thought ‘no’ – 50 points!! :)
So here’s where I am…
Going back to the super basics and rewarding myself for taking care of my body in ways that I sometimes skip. So I’m breaking down the different things and rewarding myself points for each of them:
- Bath for 30 min. w/magazine: 50
- Shaved my legs gently & massaged them first: 50
- Shaved my arm pits and didn’t put deodorant on right away b/c it stings: 50
- Showered after the bath and washed my hair: 50
- Brushed my hair afterward: 50
- Used the Sonic Care toothbrush: 50
- Put on totally fresh clothes (as in no worn-yesterday jeans) and I’m actually wearing capris and a tank top b/c it’s so gorgeous here today: 50
- Did my iBreatheLife audio track right when I woke up: 50
So I have 400 points just from self-care toward the body today. I feel so good about it because each of the things I did actually FELT loving when I was doing them. Simple. And I took my time. I told myself that my body and I were worth the time it took to brush my hair, for example, instead of just rushing to put it up in a pony tail. Who knows…later I might even feel like drying and straightening it. We’ll see.
But it’s all about taking gentle care of this lovely body that I have. I hadn’t really connected with this card until this morning. Now I feel like I’m really connected with it for moving into the rest of the week.
@CHRISTI – How can I support you in getting to the store to get your new shoes from your first week of hitting 1000 self-love points?
#CHRISTINE – I love that you gave yourself 50 points for NOT getting a hot chocolate. I will also watch for things that I want to avoid as a way to take care of my body lovingly.
More body care today:
Noticed that it was 1pm and I hadn’t had anything to eat (not great self-care for the body) so I took myself out to the store to get some stuff:
- Fresh salad w/favorite dressing for lunch: 50
- Apple & PB..and even though there was still one piece left and more PB in the bowl, I did NOT eat it because I wasn’t hungry anymore. I was full. So I put that in the fridge for later. 50 points for not stuffing myself.
@Mona – Yeah! Cheer, cheer for not stuffing. I’m going to reap 50 for that tonight. Rob & I are going out for dinner. I’m gonna get those 50!! :D
Congratulations Mona, Christi, and Christine!
You go girls!
Oh boy! 50 more points for me. Went to Kundalini Yoga tonight. It was so amazing. Never felt so good after a yoga class. Ever. Not just my body, but my whole being and my happiness and everything. I was having a kind of low energy experience for most of the day and was doing a lot of resting. This yoga class just turned everything “on” and now I’m feeling alert and my outlook has changed. I feel encouraged about everything in my life and I’m looking forward to seeing how I can handle anything that comes my way. Feeling beautiful inside and out right now.
@Maryann: Great to see you. Thanks for the encouragement. What have you been noticing with your body love this week? Worn any comfortable shoes? Given yourself some warm tea if you were cold?
@CHRISTINE: Are you pretty good at not stuffing yourself when you’re eating?
@Mona. I used to not. And sometimes I’m still not good at it. Buffets are the worst… :D But I have to say after your Weightloss and the 4 Brick Walls program, something shifted. Now, it’s only watching tv that does it and buffets sometimes. I’m soo happy with my weight. It’s been 2 years and I am still as light as I was in 10th grade. Yeeehaaa!!
I have been working on eating fresh fruit every day. Last night for supper I made sweet potatoes and salad with our hamburgers. My daughter has had lots of volleyball games so it has been harder to eat healthy when we are so busy. This whole self love process is making me more aware of my actions and choices.
@RACHEL – Eating fruit every day = AWESOME! Even though you’re busy and it’s harder to eat healthy things, make sure you’re giving yourself 50 points each time you manage to. It’s so good!
And I love hearing that it’s helping make you more aware of your actions and choices. I’ve noticed the same thing. :-)
50 points each today for:
- Putting a bandaid and neosporin on a scrap on my finger.
- Having an apple for a snack instead of pie.
- doing yoga in the morning
150 points. Off to have lunch now will watch for not overeating so I can get another 50 points.
Okay it worked! Didn’t overeat at lunch. Saved half of the sandwich for later. 50 points.
- Used the water pik for my teeth and gums. 50 points.
100 more points.
Let’s see how many I have from this week so far: 700. And I think when I add that to my points from the first 2 weeks I’ll have hit 1k. Will go look it up and report back. My massage and facial might be happening this weekend!
This is easier than I thot it would be! I’m letting myself start using the treadmill again, building up slowly after a long bout w/ achilles tendonitis. I just walk until I feel I should stop!! Then cardioglide for a few more calories off. It feels so different than racing to get a mile as fast as I can! Then throughout the day I’m more aware of my hips, knees, ankles, and more likely to walk again or do my yoga. mmmm….thank you! I have lots of points this week!
Hi Mona, Patricia, Rachel, Christi, Christine and everyone else in the game -
Your comments are inspiring! Thank you for sharing them. Reading what you write helps to keep me focused. Perhaps that is the most loving thing I’ve done this week – stay focused.
Mona, in answer to your question, I cooked for myself. Ususally, I just grab something that is in the refrigerator. This week, I made spinach soup that i love and enjoyed it for supper and fo the next day’s lunch.
WOW… you’ve all been doing great things, especially you Mona. WAY TO GO….
I haven’t been too good about this this week… but I did get some things in….
I did Yoga again on Thursday morning 50 points and made sure that I had my yogurt with flax seeds 3 times (150 points).
I also hurried off the phone on Thursday night so I could get to sleep, even though I wanted to continue talking to my mom (she just announced she is GETTING MARRIED!!!), so 50 points for that.
This brings me to my 2nd 1,000 points and that massage. I need to get it scheduled now…. hum, when am I going to fit that in??
And Mona I am not sure what support I need to get those shoes… maybe I need to let go of the idea that I have to go to “the running store” for them and just go and get some decent sneakers… hum… that’s a thought.
This weekend Joe and I did drive up to the center of the state on Friday to watch a great horse event on Saturday. It felt wonderful to give me the gift of fresh air (ahhh 50 points), a lot of walking (50 points) on soil (instead of concrete or pavement) and to do it in good shoes (I thought ahead and wore my Ariat boots which have lots of good support 50 points). I also made sure that I got some restful sleep (had to unplug the refrig in the room because it was buzzing) so 50 points there.
I made sure I ate well (not always as healthy as I wanted, but solid food instead of skipping meals) so 100 points there too.
So, here I am 250 points toward goal #3…which hasn’t even been established yet, although now that I think about it I would love to get my hair reshaped and add some new highlights….. ahhh, yes, that sounds perfect.
OK.. calls tomorrow to schedule two appointments, one for the hairdresser and one for a massage…. and a self appointment to find some running shoes!
Love My Body…I did a good job on this today by drinking a lot of water and not drinking any coke. Ahhh, my skin already feels more subtle. So, 100 points for that because I had to really be conscious of it a couple of time.
Also, I was very good about not overeating at dinner. I had two pieces of good, fresh bread, a nice steak, some fresh asparagus, and a salad full of goodies with a light raspberry, vinegrette dressing. So, 50 points for that. This takes me into week 4’s assignment with 400 points already on the plate.
I love how even though this isn’t THIS week’s card it is still fresh in my mind. I woke up with a headache and gave myself a lot of water, some ibuprofen, a heating pad and 20 minutes infront of the shiatsu machine before moving forward with my morning. My body loved teh TLC and the yoga and exercise which followed.
Here’s to a solid intent to stay off the coke and drink more water today!
